Badrinath temple is also known as Badrinarayan temple and is a temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu situated in Badrinath town of Uttrakhand state of India. The temple just opens for six months during the year. It generally opens from mid of April till mid November. It is closed for six months due to extreme weather conditions in the Himalayan region where the temple is located. It is located on the banks of the Alkananda river in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand and is one of the temples in the Char Dham Yatra.

The image of the Deity in the temple is that of Lord Vishnu and is believed to be self manifested. The image is around 1 metre tall. The Rawal or the presiding priest in the temple is from Kerala, India and is a Nambudiri Brahmin.

There are two mountains on the sides of the temple, Nar Parbhat which is on the opposite side of the Badrinath temple while Narayan Parbhat is located behind the temple. One should have a proof of identity to visit the temple.

In order to reach the temple, one would have to reach Rishikesh, which is approachable by road as well as railways. After Rishikesh, one can hire a taxi as well commute by local buses. The temple is around 300 kilometers from Rishikesh.
